Comment
|
No matter what you expect, be
grateful for what you are given. It may be more of a blessing than you think. Cherish it..
|
Actually, I like the character of the rich rather than his ungrateful
child. his father was very good at raising his child, although he did not get
the same respect from his child.

Comment

It is an
informative story reflecting two points: first, the female search for
identity in a male-dominated world; second: marriage, specially in the late
19 cenury, results in a loss of freedom for women.

What
character do you like the most? Why?
|
|
Frist
story: A Simple Heart
My favorite character is the main character
of course, Felicite, although she has a bad past where she was brokenhearted
because the man she loves leave her for someone else and then the people she
holds dear also dies. She seems to be a kind, loving and patient person
judging from how she managed to get through all that.
|
|
Second
story: The Story of an Hour
I like
Louise Mallard. I know that she tries to be a good wife for her husband, but
after her husband dead she realize that she get freedom and enjoy her life.

5 monkeys
|
|
Main point of the story
|
One of the biggest challenges in life is to be yourself in the world
trying to make you like someone else. For research purposes, the scientists
placed 5 monkeys in a cage, with a ladder in the middle and a banana on top.
Every time the monkey goes up the stairs, scientists wet the other monkeys
with cold water. After a while, every time a monkey tries to climb a ladder,
the others will beat it. After some time, no monkey dares go up the stairs
despite temptation. The scientists then decided to replace one of the
monkeys. As expected, the new monkey immediately fell in love with temptation
and was beaten by others. After being hit several times, this new member
learned not to go up the stairs even though he never knew the real reason.
Then, a second monkey was brought in and the same thing happened. The first
monkey participated in the second beating monkey. Substitute continues, until
only a group of 5 monkeys are left in the cage. Although the new group of
monkeys never received a cold shower, they continued to beat up the monkeys
who were trying to climb the stairs. If you ask one of the new monkeys why
the beating happened, the answer might be, "Yes, how do I know. I guess
that's what is done here! "

Monty Robert, his father, and the teacher
|
Main point of the story
|
One day, when Monty Roberts was senior, his teacher asked him to write
about what he wanted when he was an adult. He did not hesitate and wrote a
seven-page paper about his aim to become the owner of a horse farm. This is a
detailed paper with the location of the building, stable and even house
plans. Two days later he received his paper back with a low value on the
front page. After class he asked his teacher why he received a low grade. The
teacher said that was not realistic. After a few days, the boy brought the
same paper to his teacher. No changes made. He told his teacher, "Save
and I will save my dream." Monty Roberts then owns a 4,000 square foot
house in the middle of a 200 acre horse farm. He frames the paper he wrote
and hangs it on the fireplace.

dreams of. he sticks to his stance without anticipating what people say to
him. focusing on your goals is what I learned from him
